Moving from a proprietary CMS to WordPress seamlessly

I first established a relationship with my biggest client when they found one of my articles about redirecting permalinks correctly.

That began a conversation about the process of moving their suite of sites from an awful proprietary CMS to the wonders of WordPress and its open-source nature.

We worked together to come up with a strategy using an import process that imported all of their existing content (over 1 million articles including media and podcasts) and regex redirects to then point all of the old URLs to their new WordPress counterparts.

The whole process took a lot of meticulous planning, but it all paid off as when we made the WordPress site live, all of the traffic ended up at the correct place and we didn’t experience any increase in 404 errors.

If you have a project or a need similar to this, talk to me about how I might be able to work with you on it.
